Chinese fest to host Iranian short film ‘Weekend’

Iranian ‘Weekend’ is to compete at the 2021 ifva Awards in China.

Iranian short flick ‘Weekend’ has been selected to compete at the 26th ifva Awards in China.

Ario Motevaqqe’s debut short film ‘Weekend’ is about two families who go on picnic in a nearby park. After finishing their meal, it turns out that they are there for something else.

Fardin Qaderi, Mostafa Latifikhah, Sahar Taherkhani, Maliheh Esfandiyari, and Bardia Shariati are on the cast list of the short film.

‘Weekend’ was screened at the 43rd Kortfilmfestivalen-Norwegian Short Film Festival, the 18th Ischia Film Festival in Italy, and the 6th Tryon International Film Festival in the US.

The short flick has also received the Long-Short film award at the 2020 edition of the KinoDrome International Motion Picture and Screenplay Festival in the US.

The ifva (formerly the Hong Kong Independent Short Film and Video Awards) aims to encourage creativity and innovation.

The fest provides an opportunity for filmmakers from different regions in Asia to come together and share knowledge and experience.

The 2021 edition of the event will announce the winners in March.
